Shoe Requirements

All of our required shoes can be purchased from our recommended dance store My Dance Bag in Cherry Hill. Leotards, dance wear, and tights can be purchased at our Nimbly store, linked below.

Acro

Dress:  Leotard or biketard.  Any color.  You may wear fitted shorts or fitted stretchy pants/capris over the leotard/cami if desired.  No sweatshirts/jackets.  Hair pulled off the face into a ponytail or bun.  No shoes are required. 

Male students should wear a fitted tee/tank shirt and fitted stretchy pants or bike shorts.

Baggy or over-sized clothes are not permitted for safety reasons.

African Dance

Shoes:  plain, all-black (sole included) hip hop dance sneakers. Any brand. Absolutely no shoes that have been worn outside, or sneakers that are not specifically dance sneakers are allowed. Competition team members must also have these all-black dance sneakers for class—costume sneakers from previous dances are NOT ALLOWED.

Dress: leotard or form-fitting cami/tank. Black stretchy jazz pants or capris. Fitted knit shorts may be worn, but if so, tights must be worn under the shorts. Hair pulled off the face into a ponytail or bun. NO tee shirts, sweatshirts or jeans can be worn.

Male dancers may wear a form-fitting plain tee or tank with stretchy pants.  

Ballet 

Shoes:  Pink canvas split-sole ballet shoes.  Capezio Hanamis preferred but similar is OK.  

Dress:  Leotard and tights.  Any color.  Dancers may wear fitted knit shorts (no athletic style shorts) or a wrap skirt over their leotard if desired.  No sweatshirts/jackets.  A fitted ballet sweater may be worn.  Hair pulled off the face into a ponytail or bun.

Male ballet students should wear a fitted white tee shirt and either mens ballet tights or black jazz pants.

Ballet/Pre-Pointe and Ballet/Pointe

Shoes:  Pink canvas split-sole ballet shoes.  Capezio Hanamis preferred but similar is OK.  

Dress:  Leotard and tights.  Any color.  Dancers may wear fitted knit shorts (no athletic style shorts) or a wrap skirt over their leotard if desired.  No sweatshirts/jackets.  A fitted ballet sweater may be worn.  Hair pulled off the face into a ponytail or bun.

Pointe shoes:  students will be advised of when they are approved to purchase pointe shoes

Ballet/Tap Combo

Shoes: Pink canvas split-sole ballet shoes. Capezio Hanamis preferred but similar is OK. Dark tan or Carmel mary-jane style tap shoes. 

Dress: Leotard (skirted is fine) and tights. Any color. Hair pulled off the face into a ponytail or bun.

Male dancers should wear black canvas or leather split-sole ballet shoes—any brand. Black oxford-style tap shoes, any brand.  White tee and stretchy black pants.

Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combo 

Shoes: Pink canvas split-sole ballet shoes. Capezio Hanamis preferred but similar is OK. Dark tan or carmel mary-jane style tap shoes. 

Dark tan or carmel jazz slip-on style shoes. Bloch Neo-flex preferred but similar OK.

Contemporary

Shoes: Tan Capezio Pirouettes or similar

Dress: Leotard or fitted cami/tank and tights. Any color. Dancer can wear fitted knit shorts or stretchy black jazz pants or capris over the Leo/with the cami. Hair pulled off the face into a ponytail or bun.

Creative Movement

Shoes: Pink canvas split-sole ballet shoes. Capezio Hanamis preferred but similar is OK

Dress: Leotard (skirted is fine) and tights. Any color.  Hair pulled off the face into a ponytail or bun.

Male dancers should wear black canvas or leather split-sole ballet shoes—any brand. White tee and stretchy black pants.

Hip-Hop

Shoes: Plain, all-black (sole included) hip hop dancesneakers. Any brand. Male dancers: Black jazz slip-on style shoes. Bloch Neo-flex preferred but similar OK. White tee and stretchy black pants.

Musical Theatre

Shoes: Dark tan or carmel jazz slip-on style shoes. Bloch Neo-flex preferred but similar OK.

Dress: Leotard or fitted tank/cami and tights. Any color. Dancer can wear fitted knit shorts or stretchy black jazz pants over the Leo/with the cami/tank. Hair pulled off the face into a ponytail or bun.

Male dancers: Black jazz slip-on style shoes. Bloch Neo-flex preferred but similar OK. White tee and stretchy black pants.

Tap

Shoes: Black oxford-style tap shoes. Prefer Bloch Syncs, Bloch Audeos, or Bloch J-Sams, but similar is OK. No split-sole tap shoes can be worn.

Dress: Leotard or form-fitting cami/tank. Black stretchy jazz pants or capris. Fitted knit shorts may be worn, but if so, tights must be worn under the shorts. Hair pulled off the face into a ponytail or bun. NO tee shirts, sweatshirts or jeans can be worn.
